08-09-2025 02:42|A total lunar eclipse, described by the Jordanian Astronomical Society (JAS) as the longest of its kind in recent years, became visible in the skies over Jordan tonight, Sunday. It is expected to last for about five hours.
Key Viewing Times
Dr. Ammar al-Sakji, head of the Jordanian Astronomical Society, said that residents will be able to clearly see most of the eclipse, especially the total phase, which runs from 8:30 PM to 9:52 PM Jordan time.
The eclipse will reach its peak at 9:11 p.m., when the moon enters its deepest point in Earth’s shadow.
The moon is expected to take on a "stunning copper-red color," a phenomenon commonly known as a "Blood Moon," which will last for 82 minutes.
