Ahmed Abdel Fattah Shahada
Palestinian man shot dead by 'Israeli' forces at West Bank checkpoint
A 57-year-old Palestinian man was killed by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) near a checkpoint south of Nablus in the northern West Bank on Friday, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
The ministry described the incident as the “martyrdom of citizen Ahmed Abdel Fattah Shahada… by occupation bullets.”
The IOF issued a statement identifying Shahada as a “terrorist” who allegedly threw a suspicious object at soldiers stationed at the checkpoint.
“The terrorist did not comply to (IOF) instructions, thereafter the soldiers followed standard operating procedures and eliminated the terrorist in order to remove the threat,” the military said. No IOF soldiers were reported injured in the incident.
Violence in the occupied Palestinian territories has intensified since the start of the Gaza war nearly two years ago. According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, at least 973 Palestinians have been killed by the IOF or settlers since October 7, 2023.
