Jordan condemns ‘Israeli’ calls to expel Palestinians
Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Friday strongly condemned what it described as “hostile” remarks made by extremists in the ‘Israeli’ government regarding the displacement of Palestinians.
In an official statement, the ministry stressed that any attempt to forcibly transfer Gaza residents through the Rafah crossing would constitute a “war crime” that Jordan would confront with all its capabilities. The ministry also reaffirmed Amman’s full support for Egypt’s stance against efforts to liquidate the Palestinian cause.
Absolute rejection and strong condemnation
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Sufyan Qudah said Jordan “totally rejects and condemns” the ongoing extremist statements and actions aimed at imposing new realities by force.
He added that the use of siege and starvation as tools to pressure Palestinians into forced displacement represents a blatant violation of international law and is part of systematic policies targeting Palestinian existence on their land.
Qudah further emphasized that such schemes are a direct assault on the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent, sovereign state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Full support for Egypt’s stance
The spokesperson reiterated Jordan’s consistent position in full alignment with Egypt, stressing Amman’s complete backing of Cairo’s rejection of Palestinian displacement from Gaza and attempts to undermine the Palestinian cause.
This reaffirmation, he noted, reflects the high-level coordination between Amman and Cairo in confronting the challenges posed by the war on Gaza.
Call for international action
Qudah urged the international community to immediately assume its legal and moral responsibilities by compelling the extremist ‘Israeli’ government to end its aggression on Gaza and halt incitement by its officials.
He stressed the need to provide protection for the Palestinian people and safeguard their legitimate rights, underlining that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is “the only path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace” in the region.
