The 'Israeli' offensive on the Gaza Strip is nearing its 700th day, leaving the enclave devastated and deepening an already severe humanitarian crisis.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, more than 64,000 Palestinians have been killed, most of them women and children. Over 15,000 remain unaccounted for, while the majority of Gaza’s population has been displaced, many forced to live in makeshift shelters and tents.

Hamas Statement on 700-Day Mark

In a press release, Hamas condemned the war as a “genocidal and brutal war of extermination” and a “stain on the forehead of humanity.” The group accused the 'Israeli' government of waging a “criminal war” that violates international law and humanitarian norms.

Hamas claimed that 'Israel' has deliberately targeted civilians and destroyed essential infrastructure, including hospitals, schools, bakeries, and aid distribution centers. It also accused 'Israel' of killing thousands of humanitarian workers, including medical staff, civil defense teams, and journalists.

The statement held the US administration responsible for prolonging what it called “crimes of genocide,” accusing Washington of providing political and military cover while blocking UN bodies from fulfilling their roles. Hamas praised global solidarity efforts, including the launch of the Global Sumud Flotilla, urging Arab and Islamic nations to intensify their activities until the aggression ends and the blockade is lifted.

Humanitarian Toll and International Scrutiny

Nearly two years into the war, Gaza’s humanitarian situation is catastrophic. The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reports famine conditions in parts of the enclave, with hundreds of thousands facing extreme food insecurity. The World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that Gaza’s health system is almost entirely destroyed, with diseases spreading due to the lack of clean water and sanitation.

'Israel' also faces growing legal pressure. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is reviewing genocide accusations, while the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants against Israeli leaders on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Despite mediation attempts in Qatar and Egypt, a ceasefire deal remains out of reach. Hamas accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of blocking an agreement, prioritizing his political agenda over the fate of captives held in Gaza.
