National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir is preparing a strict strategy for over 200 individuals expected to arrive in 'Israel' via the largest flotilla scheduled to reach Gaza, according to Israel Hayom.

The activists, coming from 44 nations and departing from Barcelona, Sicily, Greece, and Tunisia, will be discussed in a restricted meeting at the prime minister’s residence on Sunday, alongside security personnel. Ben-Gvir is reportedly advocating for measures beyond mild detentions and aerial deportations, proposing a deterrent approach.

Last Thursday, Ben-Gvir met with top police and prison service officials to draft a plan that will be presented to Prime Minister Netanyahu. This strategy reportedly includes detaining the activists under “terrorist-level conditions” at Ktzi’ot and Damon (for females) facilities, with no television or radio, basic meals, and prolonged custody instead of overnight stays. The custody is justified by their attempt to enter a restricted military zone, and documentation of each individual’s alleged links to terrorists is planned.

Additionally, the plan involves seizing the activists’ ships and converting them into police vessels to establish a maritime force. Judicial assessments have reportedly indicated this action is permissible.

Officials close to Ben-Gvir said previous “gentle” handling of activist flotillas, including Greta Thunberg’s, failed to prevent repeat attempts, and the new measures aim to discourage future arrivals.
