'Israeli' attack kills Palestinian journalist Islam Abed in Gaza

Journalist Islam Abed, a correspondent for Al-Quds Today, was killed on Sunday in Gaza City while covering events on the ground, joining the growing number of journalists killed due to 'Israel’s' ongoing aggression in the sector.

Al-Quds Today said, “We mourn our colleague Islam Muharib Abed, who was killed in a cowardly 'Israeli' attack on Gaza this evening. We convey our condolences to journalists across Palestine and beyond.”

The channel affirmed it will continue its resistance journalism with determination, stressing that 'Israel’s' killing machine will not silence their voice, which represents the Palestinian people.

With Abed’s death, the number of journalists killed in Gaza has risen to 247 since October 7, 2023, alongside hundreds more injured or detained, and numerous media offices and facilities targeted or destroyed.

Her death underscores the extreme risks Palestinian journalists face while documenting 'Israeli' attacks and reporting the suffering of civilians.

Local and international media activists continue to call for stronger protections for journalists, recognizing them as the first line of defense for truth and the voice of the field.
