Eyewitnesses said the special unit, which entered the city in civilian vehicles with Palestinian license plates, quickly spread across the Al-Manara Roundabout and surrounding commercial streets, followed by large military reinforcements, effectively paralyzing movement in the city center.
Raid details
The operation began in the early hours, with the special forces surrounding several residential buildings and shops in the area.
Palestinian security sources stated that the raid aimed to arrest several youths wanted by Israeli authorities. Forces raided multiple homes, arresting at least three young men, amid heavy live fire, stun grenades, and tear gas.
The raid caused panic and confusion in the city, which serves as the administrative capital for Palestinians.
Violent clashes erupt
Dozens of Palestinian youths took to the streets, throwing stones and empty bottles at 'Israeli' vehicles securing the special forces’ withdrawal.
'Israeli' forces responded with rubber-coated metal bullets and tear gas, injuring several youths with contusions and causing cases of suffocation. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported treating multiple injuries on the scene.
Palestinian condemnation
National and popular figures in Ramallah condemned the raid, calling it a serious escalation and a blatant violation of agreements.
They noted that raiding the heart of Ramallah, home to the main Palestinian Authority headquarters, sends a political message aimed at undermining Palestinian authority and demonstrating the occupation’s absolute control over all areas of the West Bank.
