US President Donald Trump has again drawn attention after being seen with an unusually heavy layer of makeup on his right hand during a visit to a museum near the White House on Friday. Photographs showed what appeared to be foundation or concealer smeared across his skin, while his left hand remained untouched.

Trump, wearing his signature red cap emblazoned with the words “Trump was right about everything,” brushed off questions from reporters, but the images revived speculation about his health and appearance. At 79, Trump has been photographed several times with cosmetics applied to his hands, something aides have previously attributed to his famously vigorous handshakes.

Earlier this year, when meeting French President Emmanuel Macron, Trump’s right hand appeared bruised, while more recent images have shown noticeable swelling around his ankles. That condition became particularly visible last week during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska on the ongoing Ukraine conflict.

In July, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt downplayed the concerns. She explained that Trump had “minor bruising on the back of his hands,” describing it as “minor soft tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and the use of aspirin.” She added, “This is a well known and benign side effect of aspirin therapy.”

Leavitt also addressed reports of swollen ankles, attributing them to chronic venous insufficiency, a condition in which blood collects in the lower legs rather than flowing efficiently back to the heart. Left untreated, this can potentially lead to more serious complications, including deep vein thrombosis.

Despite these visible issues, Trump’s annual medical report earlier this year insisted he remains in “excellent health,” pointing to his “active lifestyle” and “frequent victories in golf events.” The report stated that circulation to his limbs was “unimpaired” and made no mention of abnormal muscle swelling.
