VIDEO: Trump diagnosed with chronic venous condition after check for leg swelling: White House

US President Donald Trump underwent a medical examination after developing swelling in his lower legs and bruising on his hands, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Thursday.

Leavitt, citing a letter from Trump's physician, told reporters that ultrasound scans of the legs revealed chronic venous insufficiency, a common condition, especially among people over the age of 70.

She added that recent images showed minor bruises on the backs of his hands, consistent with mild soft tissue irritation caused by frequent handshakes and the use of aspirin, a standard preventive measure for cardiovascular health.

Leavitt stressed that the condition is not serious and is being managed under normal medical supervision.
