Jordan strongly condemned statements by ‘Israeli’ communications minister Shlomo Karhi who praised the decision to build settlements in the occupied West Bank's "E1" area.

The minister’s comments invoked the extremists’ "heresies and illusions" that claim both banks of the Jordan River are part of "the land of Israel,” a statement by the Jordanian foreign ministry said.

Ministry spokesman Sufian Qudah affirmed “Jordan’s absolute rejection of these provocative and inflammatory statements,” adding that such comments will not undermine Jordan's firm stance in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and its calls to stop the war crimes being committed against them.

Qudah added that the remarks reflect the "internationally isolated state of the Israeli government," which he said is experiencing a crisis that is driving its extremist officials to promote "racist and exclusionary ideas of hatred that fuel the continuous cycles of conflict in the region."
