Barcelona mayor denied entry to ‘Israel’

The ‘Israeli’ Interior Ministry announced Friday that Barcelona Mayor Jaume Collboni has been denied entry.

Collboni, who was scheduled to land in ‘Israel’ around midnight today has been refused entry “in accordance with the Entry to Israel Law and in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the National Security Council,” a statement The Population and Immigration Authority of the Interior Ministry said, cited by Yedioth Ahronoth.

In May earlier this year, the Barcelona City Council passed a resolution to sever ties with ‘Israel’, in addition to ending the city's “friendship agreement” with Tel Aviv.

Collboni was scheduled to visit the West Bank and Yad Vashem, the World Holocaust Remembrance Center in Jerusalem
