Netanyahu strikes again at Australian PM over Palestine recognition
'Israeli' Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu escalated his personal attacks against Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Thursday, criticizing his government’s decision to recognize a Palestinian state.
Relations between 'Israel' and Australia have grown tense since Albanese’s center-left Labor government announced the recognition last week, following similar moves by France, Britain, and Canada.
Netanyahu called Albanese a “weak politician” who “betrayed Israel and abandoned Australian Jews,” adding in a Sky News Australia interview that his record will be “forever marked” for the weakness shown in facing Hamas.
The full interview aired at 8:00 PM local time (10:00 GMT).
Albanese downplayed Netanyahu’s remarks, saying he does not take such comments personally and treats other world leaders with respect.
