Jordan seizes 517,000 Captagon pills at Al-Karama border
Jordanian authorities have foiled a significant narcotics smuggling operation at the Al-Karama Border Crossing, seizing 517,000 Captagon tablets hidden inside a cargo truck entering the country from a neighboring state, Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported.
Customs officers, working alongside security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, discovered the drugs concealed within specially fabricated metal compartments designed to evade detection. Officials described the concealment method as “highly sophisticated,” underscoring the complexity and planning behind the trafficking attempt.
In an official statement released Wednesday, the Jordan Customs Department reaffirmed its dedication to protecting national security and shielding society from the dangers of illegal drugs. “Combating drug trafficking remains a top priority, aligned with our core mission of placing citizens at the center of our efforts,” the statement said.
Authorities also called on the public to assist in anti-smuggling operations by reporting suspicious activities to the national hotline at 105, emphasizing that community cooperation is vital for maintaining the Kingdom’s safety and stability.
