12-08-2025 20:04|The governorate of Zarqa recorded its highest temperature in over a century today, Tuesday, as a severe heat wave continues to grip Jordan.
According to data from the Jordan Meteorological Department's climate bank, the Zarqa weather station registered a maximum temperature of 44.8 degrees Celsius (112.6 F).
This shatters the previous record of 44.6 C (112.3 F), which was set on both Aug. 20, 2010, and Aug. 13, 2023.
Zarqa is the first city this year to officially break a historical temperature record. With the heat wave ongoing, meteorologists say it's possible other stations could see new records fall.
