Actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, known for his role as Jaime Lannister in Game of Thrones, has used his social media platform to draw global attention to the dire humanitarian crisis unfolding in Gaza.

The Danish actor shared two posts from the humanitarian organization Save the Children, providing a stark look at the situation on the ground.

The first post, featuring an image of a devastated city quoted Rachael Cummings, Save the Children’s humanitarian director in Gaza, who described the "absolutely desperate" reality of children searching for food and water.

Cummings noted she sees "children walking with empty bowls looking for anything they can find, children carrying empty bottles of water looking to fill them up".

A second post, a bold text graphic, delivered a direct statement from the organization: "THE ISRAELI GOVERNMENT'S SIEGE IS STARVING THE PEOPLE OF GAZA".

These appeals come as multiple international bodies report a full-scale humanitarian catastrophe. The UN-backed Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) has warned that "the worst-case scenario of famine is currently playing out in Gaza".

The report states that two of the three official famine thresholds have been reached in most of the Gaza Strip, and there is mounting evidence of a rise in hunger-related deaths.

According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, 96 children have died from malnutrition-related causes as of early August.

Coster-Waldau has been a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) since 2016.
