“Prepare your coffin”: Macron threatened by “Israeli” rabbi for planned recognition of Palestine

Prosecutors in Paris have opened an investigation into a video in which an “Israeli” rabbi threatens French President Emmanuel Macron.

The inquiry was launched Friday following reports from French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau and an online platform for reporting hate speech.

The French Public Prosecutor's Office said it has opened an investigation “into death threats against the President of the Republic” and has assigned the Paris Judicial Police's Criminal Investigation Unit to the case.

In the YouTube video, Rabbi David Daniel Cohen, who appears to live in “Israel”, attacked President Macron over his plan to recognize a Palestinian state.

The rabbi, speaking in French in the 37-minute video, claimed that Macron, through the planned September recognition, would reveal his "deep-seated anti-Semitism" and launch a "declaration of war on God."

"This French president must know that it is in his interest to prepare his coffin," the rabbi added. "And God will show him what it means to be so rude and to make statements against God."

France's Chief Rabbi, Haim Korsia, "strongly condemned the vile and unacceptable statements made by Daniel David Cohen," affirming that Cohen "has not held any rabbinical function in France and has not received training or certification from the French Rabbinical School."
