Iran executed two men on Wednesday, one accused of spying for 'Israel' and the other of being a Daesh member, according to state media.

Rouzbeh Vadi was convicted of passing information about an Iranian nuclear scientist to 'Israel’s' Mossad and was allegedly recruited online, meeting 'Israeli' agents in Vienna, the judiciary said. He reportedly worked in a sensitive government organization and was accused of disrupting national security.

In June 2025, a brief but intense military conflict, dubbed the "12-day war," erupted between 'Israel' and Iran.

The confrontation began on June 13 with a major 'Israeli' strike against key Iranian military and nuclear facilities, which killed senior personnel.

Iran's leadership retaliated, leading to nearly two weeks of direct military exchanges that brought the Middle East to the brink of a wider regional war. The hostilities were halted by a ceasefire agreement announced by US President Donald Trump.

In another case, Iran also hanged Mehdi Asgharzadeh, accused of being part of Daesh and plotting sabotage after undergoing military training in Syria and Iraq. Both executions were upheld by Iran’s Supreme Court.
