American actress Jenna Ortega shared a message on her social media platform highlighting the malnutrition crisis affecting children in Gaza.

In her post, Ortega shared an image of a malnourished child in Gaza and drew a comparison to the conditions in the Warsaw Ghetto in 1942, during World War II, where Jewish residents faced severe starvation under Nazi occupation.

Ortega has a documented history of using her public platform to advocate for Palestine and express concern for those affected by genocide.

Ortega, known for her role in the Netflix series "Wednesday," has consistently highlighted humanitarian crises globally. In March 2022, she publicly called for support for people in "Ukraine, Yemen, Palestine, Kashmir, Iraq, Syria," and actively sought resources and links to NGOs assisting those in need.

She also notably promoted "Decolonize Palestine," an initiative aimed at educating the public on the situation in Palestinian territories. These early expressions of solidarity drew both praise from fans and criticism from some who accused her of antisemitism, a charge her supporters have rejected.

Her advocacy continued into the ongoing genocide in Gaza. In October 2023, Ortega was among hundreds of artists who signed the "Artists4Ceasefire" letter, an open appeal for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza to protect civilians and uphold international law.

More recently, in November 2023, Ortega's departure from the "Scream 7" film project sparked widespread speculation. While her representatives cited scheduling conflicts, her exit occurred just one day after her co-star Melissa Barrera was fired from the film due to Barrera's vocal pro-Palestinian social media posts, which the production company deemed "antisemitic."

Ortega later clarified that her decision to leave was tied to the overall breakdown of the creative team, including Barrera's firing, rather than solely pay or scheduling. This timing and her past advocacy were widely interpreted by many as an act of solidarity with Barrera.

Ortega has also spoken about the pressures faced by artists to remain apolitical in Hollywood. In interviews, she has suggested that the industry's focus on "political correctness" can lead to a loss of "humanity and integrity," advocating for a more honest conversation.

Her continued public statements and actions underscore a consistent commitment to humanitarian causes and support for the Palestinian people.
