Jordan condemns ‘Israeli’ Knesset vote backing West Bank sovereignty

Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the 'Israeli' Knesset's vote in favor of a statement supporting 'Israeli' sovereignty over the occupied West Bank and Jordan Valley, calling it a blatant violation of international law and a serious undermining of the two-state solution.

In a statement, the ministry said the move poses a direct threat to the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent, sovereign state on the 1967 borders with occupied Jerusalem as its capital, reaffirming that 'Israel' has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territories.

Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Sufian Qudah reiterated Jordan’s firm rejection of all 'Israeli' attempts to impose control over the West Bank, describing such actions as a clear breach of international law and UN Security Council resolutions, particularly Resolution 2334, which denounces all measures aimed at altering the demographic composition, character, and status of the occupied Palestinian territories since 1967, including East Jerusalem.

Qudah also pointed to the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice, which confirmed the illegality of the 'Israeli' occupation, adding that settlement construction and annexation efforts in the West Bank are null and void under international law.
