Brazil to join South Africa's ICJ genocide case against 'Israel': Sources

Brazil will request to join South Africa’s genocide case against 'Israel' at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), a source familiar with the matter told Reuters on Wednesday.

South Africa filed the case in 2023, accusing 'Israel' of violating its obligations under the 1948 Genocide Convention through its military campaign against the Palestinian group Hamas in Gaza.

Other countries, including Spain, Turkey, and Colombia, have already asked the ICJ to join the case.

Reuters confirmed Brazil’s decision, which was first reported by the local newspaper Folha de S.Paulo.
