The commander of the 'Israeli' army’s Central Command, Avi Bluth, has issued a new military order banning the wearing of face coverings (such as masks or scarves) across the occupied West Bank, applying to both Palestinians and settlers.

According to the order, anyone covering their face could face up to six months in prison. The sentence increases to two years if the covering is worn while committing a crime or offense.

The ban excludes religious face coverings and those worn by 'Israeli' forces during military operations in the West Bank.

The 'Israeli' army described the decision as part of its efforts to combat what it termed “nationalist-motivated crimes and Jewish terrorism.”
