Jordanian army foils two large drug smuggling attempts from Syria

Jordanian border guards thwarted two separate attempts to infiltrate and smuggle significant quantities of narcotics from Syrian territory into Jordan on Tuesday evening, a statement from the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF) said.

The statement said. reported that two groups of smugglers were detected attempting to cross the border illegally from different locations. Quick-reaction patrols were dispatched, and rules of engagement were applied, forcing the smugglers to retreat back into Syrian territory.

Intensive search operations in the area led to the seizure of large quantities of drugs, which have been handed over to the relevant authorities.
