Jordan welcomes Syrian ceasefire in Suwayda
Jordan has welcomed the Syrian government’s decision to implement a ceasefire in the southern province of Suwayda, calling it an important step toward de-escalation and the protection of civilians.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates emphasized the need for calm, restraint, and the prevention of further bloodshed. The ministry also underscored the importance of enforcing the law and ensuring that the Syrian state exercises full sovereignty over its territories.
The ministry’s spokesperson, Ambassador Dr. Sufian Qudah, reiterated Jordan’s backing of the Syrian government’s efforts to rebuild the country.
“Jordan supports the Syrian government in its efforts to rebuild Syria on foundations that guarantee its security, stability, unity, and sovereignty, while preserving the safety, rights, and security of all Syrians,” Qudah said.
