EU announces major 'Israeli' steps to improve Gaza aid distribution

The European Union (EU) announced Thursday that 'Israel' has committed to a series of new steps aimed at improving the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, following high-level discussions between the EU and the 'Israeli' cabinet.

According to a statement from the EU, 'Israel' has agreed to significantly increase the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza, including both food and non-food supplies. The measures, which are already underway or set to be implemented in the coming days.

Key elements of the agreement include:

• A substantial increase in the number of daily aid trucks entering Gaza.
• The opening of additional crossing points in both the north and south of the territory.
• The reopening of vital aid corridors from Jordan and Egypt.
• Support for food distribution through public kitchens and bakeries across Gaza.
• The resumption of fuel deliveries for humanitarian operations.
• Increased protection for aid workers.
• Repairs and restoration of critical infrastructure, including the reactivation of the water desalination plant’s power supply.

The EU emphasized that it is prepared to coordinate closely with humanitarian actors, including UN agencies and NGOs, to ensure the timely and effective rollout of these steps.

Reiterating its position, the EU also renewed its call for an immediate ceasefire and the unconditional release of all hostages. It expressed continued support for ongoing mediation efforts led by Egypt, Qatar, and the US.
