Three arrested in assault on journalist Fares Habashneh in Jordan

The Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced the arrest of three individuals in connection with the recent assault on journalist Fares Habashneh, all of whom have prior criminal records.

According to a statement by the PSD spokesperson, two suspects were apprehended after investigators tracked their whereabouts and gathered evidence confirming their involvement. A third suspect had already been detained earlier that same day.

During questioning, the suspects confessed to planning the attack in coordination with a fourth individual, also with a criminal background, who allegedly incited the assault over a personal dispute with Habashneh. The suspects admitted that, on the day of the incident, they rented a vehicle, drove to Habashneh’s residence, waited for his arrival, and physically assaulted him before fleeing the scene.

The PSD spokesperson added that the alleged instigator has been in hiding since the attack, and efforts are underway to locate and arrest him. The investigation is ongoing.
