Majed al-Ansari, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson
No timeline for negotiations, talks to continue until positive outcome, says Qatari FM spokesperson
The Official Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Majed al-Ansari, said on Monday that mediation efforts are currently focused on reaching a stage that would lead to ending the war in Gaza, as both the 'Israeli' and Hamas delegations remain present and engaged in indirect discussions.
In his statements, al-Ansari emphasized that talks are still in the early stages and revolve around a general framework. “We are currently discussing a negotiation framework before moving into the final phase,” he said, adding that detailed negotiations have not yet begun.
He noted that Qatari mediators are working separately with each delegation to facilitate the process and create a conducive environment for progress. “Our goal is to bridge the gaps and set the stage for meaningful talks,” al-Ansari stated.
While it is too early to disclose specifics, he said there are “positive impressions” so far. However, he cautioned that the process will take time and that it is not possible to provide a clear timeline for results.
Al-Ansari criticized media leaks related to the negotiations, calling them “irresponsible actions” that could derail the fragile mediation efforts. “The negotiation process requires calm, and such leaks lead to media pressure that may affect its course,” he warned.
He also declined to comment on the precise authority of the 'Israeli' delegation but described their level of engagement as “positive.”
Al-Ansari concluded by stressing that no fixed timetable has been set, but the negotiations will continue “until positive outcomes are achieved.”
