Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa announced the beginning of what he called a new chapter in Syria’s history, declaring the end of what he described as “the most humiliating era in the history of the Levant” under the previous regime. His remarks came during a nationally televised address on the occasion of launching Syria’s new visual identity.

Speaking at the official unveiling ceremony, Sharaa framed the moment as symbolic of a broader national rebirth.

Sharaa’s speech was steeped in historical and symbolic references, particularly to the ancient and enduring significance of Damascus. “Once upon a time, long ago, the story of a city was born,” he said. “Some say the tale of the first humans began there… And so they built the first capital known to humanity: it is Damascus.”

He described the Levant as both the origin and the culmination of human history. “Whoever examines history will find that the Levant is the beginning and end of the world’s story,” he said.

The president also directly addressed the Syrian people, acknowledging their years of suffering and promising that a brighter future is underway. “The story of the Levant continues through you,” he said. “History tells us that your decline has ended, and the time of your resurgence has come. Your suffering has been heard, your exile is over, your prisons have been opened, and your patience has earned you victory.”

The event marked the official introduction of a new national visual identity, which Al-Sharaa described as reflecting the strength and ambition of the current era. “This new identity draws inspiration from a predatory bird, symbolizing power, determination, speed, precision, and innovation,” he said.
