Musk deletes post linking Trump to Epstein files
Elon Musk briefly alleged that President Donald Trump is implicated in unreleased files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, only to quietly delete the claim days later.
The tech mogul and billionaire, who recently stepped down from a senior advisory role in the White House, posted the incendiary accusation on his X account late Thursday, as his public fallout with the president reached new heights.
“Time to drop the really big bomb: (Trump) is in the Epstein files,” Musk wrote. “That is the real reason they have not been made public.”
He followed up by urging users to “mark this post for the future. The truth will come out,” but both messages were deleted by Saturday morning.
Musk did not provide any supporting evidence for the claim, nor did he clarify which documents he was referring to. The posts came amid a growing rift between the billionaire and Trump, who had previously praised Musk’s cost-cutting work at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) just days before their relationship soured.
The Trump administration has acknowledged an internal review of thousands of documents tied to Epstein and his network, including videos, testimonies, and investigative records. But while Trump was named in earlier documents unsealed in early 2024, he has not been accused of any wrongdoing.
Trump has long acknowledged knowing Epstein, once calling him a “terrific guy” in a 2002 magazine profile, adding, “He's a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side.”
The billionaire financier died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His death, ruled a suicide, has fueled years of conspiracy theories implicating politicians, celebrities, and elite figures from across the political spectrum.
While many far-right Trump supporters claim Epstein’s inner circle includes powerful Democrats and Hollywood elites, they have largely avoided tying the president to those allegations. No official agency has confirmed that Trump appears in any unreleased Epstein-related material.
