“Elephant bulls having a go”: Elon Musk's dad on feud with Trump
Errol Musk, the father of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, has brushed off the heated online exchange between his son and US President Donald Trump, suggesting the row is unlikely to last long and chalking it up to a clash of strong personalities.
Speaking to Al Arabiya English from an airport lounge in Delhi, Errol characterized the high-profile disagreement as “a bit silly” and attributed it to fatigue and pressure experienced by powerful figures.
“When people have been through a great deal of stress… eventually people reach a point where they lash out,” he said. “Even at the highest levels, people struggle to find common ground.”
The rift between Elon Musk and Donald Trump erupted over social media, reportedly fueled by Elon’s concerns about the Democratic Party using financial tools to influence legislation. Errol acknowledged his son’s frustrations on that front but remained optimistic that the dispute would fade away soon.
“Yes, of course,” he responded when asked whether the two men would mend fences. “I did send him a message… telling him, make sure this fizzles out.”
One of the more surprising moments in the spat came when Elon referenced the Jeffrey Epstein case in a criticism of Trump. Errol admitted he was confused by that move.
“I have no idea what he was thinking… I can only imagine that’s just a silly mistake,” he said, attributing the comment to emotional exhaustion rather than any calculated plan.
Drawing on a biblical phrase, Errol added, “Let the innocent person cast the first stone,” and compared the public spectacle to “elephant bulls or alphas having a go at each other.”
Reflecting on his recent three-week visit to the United States, Errol claimed that support for Trump among the public appeared overwhelming. “I would like to say 80 percent, but actually 100 percent [are] behind Trump,” he said.
Despite the online fireworks, Errol remains confident that the situation will calm down, and that both men, known for their strong-willed personalities, will eventually move past the confrontation.
