“Israeli” National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir demanded from district police commanders to crack down against the Islamic call to prayer made from mosques in “Israel” – which Ben-Gvir describes as noise.

Back in December, 2024, Ben Gvir announced that the mosques will be barred from broadcasting the Islamic call to prayer using loudspeaks.

The policy allowed the “Israeli” police to enter the mosques and confiscate loudspeaker equipment if they are used to broadcast the Adhan.

According to a Haaretz report, Ben-Gvir convened district police commanders and reprimanded them for not following his orders; by not properly enforcing the law and issuing fines.

He described the Adhan as a noise and a common occurrence which needs handling when complaints from Jewish residents arrive.

"I appointed you to implement my policy," said Ben-Gvir, per the report.

He praised the commander of “Israel” police Central District, who began imposing heavy fines on mosques.

Some district police commanders warned that applying pressure to fine the mosques could lead to a flare-up of tension in Arab and mixed communities.
