Jordanian national found dead in Canada after disappearance

Jordan’s Foreign Ministry announced that Canadian authorities located the body of a Jordanian citizen “Waleed Amareen” – who had previously been reported missing.

The Ministry’s spokesperson said DNA testing conducted by Canadian authorities confirmed the identity of the body.

The investigation determined that the cause of death was drowning.

He noted that Canadian officials have informed Amareen’s wife of the discovery, and the ministry remains in contact with the family.

Should the family wish to repatriate the body, arrangements will be made to transport it back to Jordan – the statement said.

The ministry extended its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.
