Hamas confirms US talks, promises release of 'Israeli'-American soldier Edan Alexander

Hamas announced its recent engagement in talks with the US administration as part of ongoing efforts to negotiate a ceasefire.

In a significant move, Hamas confirmed it will release 'Israeli'-American dual citizen soldier Edan Alexander as part of steps to de-escalate, open border crossings, and allow humanitarian aid into Gaza.

The movement also confirmed its readiness to begin immediate, intensive negotiations aimed at reaching a final ceasefire agreement. This would include a mutually agreed captives exchange and the establishment of an independent, professional committee to govern Gaza. The goal is to ensure long-term peace, stability, reconstruction, and the lifting of the blockade.

Hamas expressed appreciation for the continuous efforts of mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, acknowledging their important roles in facilitating the discussions and working toward a peaceful resolution.

Khalil Al-Hayya, head of Hamas in Gaza, highlighted the importance of these talks in securing a peaceful and stable future for Gaza and the broader region.
