Eight people, including four children, were killed in an “Israeli” airstrike targeting tents sheltering displaced families in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, civil defense officials said Sunday.

Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for Gaza’s civil defense, told AFP that “Israeli” warplanes struck three tents housing dozens of displaced people.

"Eight civilians were martyred, including four children aged between two and five, and two women," he said.

Basal added that rescue teams recovered "four martyrs and several injured individuals" from a tent belonging to the Al-Alami family in the al-Mashru’ area of Khan Younis. The victims included a man, his wife, and their two children, he said.

Another three victims—a man, his wife, and their child—were killed in a strike on a tent belonging to the Al-Agha family in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis. A fourth child and seven others were also injured in the same area, Basal noted.

Meanwhile, witnesses reported that the army demolished five homes using explosives in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City.
