Traffic lights restored across Amman after electrical malfunction

All traffic lights in the Jordanian capital were fully restored and operating normally as of Wednesday morning, according to the Central Traffic Department.

In a brief statement sent to Roya, the department confirmed that traffic signals across Amman were functioning after a widespread electrical malfunction earlier in the day caused major disruptions in several areas.

The power outage affected multiple traffic signals across the city, prompting an immediate response from security personnel to manage traffic manually and alleviate the resulting gridlock – according to an operations officer at the department.

Municipal crews and technical teams worked swiftly to repair the damaged signals and restore normal traffic flow.

Additional traffic officers were deployed at key intersections to direct vehicles and ease congestion caused by the outage.
