Virgin Atlantic permanently cancels London-Tel Aviv route
Virgin Atlantic, the British airline, announced on Monday that it will not resume flights to 'Israel', ending its London-Tel Aviv service that had been suspended since the outbreak of the ongoing aggression in Gaza in October 2023.
Yedioth Ahronoth reported that, although the airline had initially planned to restart flights in October 2025, it has now decided to permanently cancel the route following what it described as a "comprehensive review" of the situation.
Virgin Atlantic began its operations in 'Israel' in September 2019, initially offering one daily flight before expanding to two daily services.
The airline confirmed that customers who booked directly with Virgin Atlantic will be notified via email starting May 10, 2025.
Despite suspending its flights, Virgin remains committed to serving 'Israeli' travelers through its ongoing code-share partnership with 'Israeli' airline El Al.
The report noted that Virgin is the only British airline still maintaining this partnership with El Al, which offers passengers up to four daily flights between Tel Aviv and London’s Heathrow Airport.
Since the beginning of 2025, several international airlines have resumed flights to and from Tel Aviv, despite the continued conflict and multiple security threats at Ben Gurion Airport.
