The Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) announced in an official statement on Sunday that it had responded promptly to a limited gas leak incident originating from a water plant located in the industrial area of Aqaba city.

The authority confirmed that the incident did not result in any injuries or material damage, and assured the safety of the area from any gaseous pollutants after conducting thorough inspections.

According to a notice issued by the ASEZA on its official Facebook page, a gas leak was reported at a water plant in the industrial area on the morning of the incident.

Immediately, the concerned authorities took precautionary measures to contain the incident, including:

  • Temporarily closing the plant as a precautionary step to ensure the safety of workers.
  • Conducting comprehensive maintenance to address the source of the leak and ensure it does not recur.
  • Operating a mobile laboratory to test air quality on-site and ensure the area was free of any gaseous pollutants.
  • The statement emphasized that the cooperation between the Aqaba Authority, Civil Defense teams, and relevant authorities contributed to controlling the situation quickly and efficiently, with no material damage or human injuries reported.

The ASEZA clarified that the inspections carried out by specialized teams using the mobile laboratory confirmed that the area was free from any gaseous pollutants.
