French student stabs four classmates, one killed
A tragic stabbing incident unfolded Thursday at a high school in Doulon, near Nantes, France, leaving one student dead and three others injured.
The attack occurred at the private Notre-Dame-de-Toutes-Aides High School, which is part of a campus that also houses a primary and middle school.
Authorities reported that a student carried out the stabbing, targeting four of his peers before teachers were able to intervene and restrain him. The assailant was later arrested and taken into custody by the police.
Although details about the attack remain unclear, law enforcement officials have stated that there is no indication of a terrorist motive.
The police presence around the school was heavy as investigations began. Images from the scene showed officers securing the area while the situation was assessed.
An official from the school declined to comment on the specifics of the incident but mentioned that the institution was focused on supporting the students who were on the premises at the time.
French Education Minister Élisabeth Borne, along with Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau, announced they would visit the school to express solidarity with the victims and the entire school community.
