Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday strongly condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by 'Israeli' Knesset members, accompanied by provocative actions from extremist settlers under the protection of 'Israeli' police.

Ministry spokesperson Ambassador Sufyan Qudah called the repeated incursions a dangerous escalation and an unacceptable provocation. He described them as a clear violation of the sanctity of Al-Aqsa and the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem.

Qudah reaffirmed Jordan’s firm rejection of 'Israel’s' actions, warning that they inflame tensions in the occupied Palestinian territories and violate 'Israel’s' responsibilities as the occupying power in East Jerusalem. He stressed that 'Israel' has no sovereignty over Jerusalem or its Islamic and Christian holy sites.

He urged the international community to take a firm stance and pressure 'Israel' to stop its ongoing violations against religious sites in Jerusalem.

Qudah reiterated that Al-Aqsa Mosque is a place of worship solely for Muslims. He emphasized that the Jerusalem Awqaf Department, under Jordan’s Ministry of Awqaf, is the only legal authority responsible for managing Al-Haram Al-Sharif and overseeing access to it.
