The Palestinian Civil Affairs Authority announced early Friday the death of Palestinian detainee Musab Hassan Adaili, 20, from the village of Osarin in the Nablus district.

In a joint statement, the Commission for Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoners Club said Adaili had been imprisoned since March 22, 2024, and was sentenced to one year and one month.

He died overnight under what they described as “mysterious circumstances,” adding his name to the growing list of Palestinians who have died in 'Israeli' custody.

Adaili’s death brings the number of known Palestinian detainees killed in 'Israeli' custody since the start of the genocide on Gaza to 64, including at least 40 from Gaza. The statement noted that the actual number may be higher due to 'Israel’s' ongoing policy of forced disappearance, which conceals the fate of many detainees.

Since 1967, at least 301 Palestinian detainees have died in 'Israeli' jails. 'Israel' is currently withholding the bodies of 73 of them, including 62 killed since the start of the current genocide.

The two organizations condemned Adaili’s death on Palestinian Prisoners Day, calling it yet another crime by what they described as 'Israel’s' “system of brutality.” They accused 'Israeli' authorities of deliberately killing detainees through torture, starvation, physical and psychological abuse, medical neglect, and inhumane conditions that have led to the spread of serious diseases like scabies.

They warned that the rising number of detainee deaths reflects a dangerous deterioration in prison conditions, with thousands being held in increasingly harsh and degrading environments.

The Commission and the Prisoners Club held 'Israeli' authorities fully responsible for Adaili’s death and renewed their call on international human rights bodies to take meaningful action.

They urged the global community to hold 'Israeli' officials accountable for ongoing war crimes and to impose international sanctions that would end 'Israel’s' impunity and restore the role of global justice in protecting human rights.
