Jordan to withdraw from Organization of Southern Cooperation
A Royal Decree has been issued approving Cabinet Decision No. 3098, which includes the approval of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan's withdrawal from the Organization of Southern Cooperation (OSC), according to the Official Gazette.
The OSC is a coalition of countries from Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and the Pacific established on January 29, 2020.
The organization was born out of the International Summit on Balanced and Inclusive Education, hosted in Djibouti, where member states united around a shared vision to redefine education systems in the Global South.
According to its Constitutive Charter, the OSC seeks to “contribute to the equitable, just, and prosperous social transformation of societies by promoting balanced and inclusive education, in order to attain the fundamental rights to liberty, justice, dignity, sustainability, social cohesion, and material and immaterial security for the peoples of the world.”
Jordan was one of 28 member countries, including founding and member nations representing regions across Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and the Pacific Islands.
