The Director-General of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Pierre Krähenbühl, has described the situation in Gaza as “hell on earth,” warning of the dire humanitarian conditions and what he called a campaign of “genocidal warfare” by Israeli Occupation against civilians.

Speaking at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum held in southern Turkey from April 11–13, Krähenbühl said the humanitarian situation in Gaza is “absolutely unbearable,” highlighting the increasing dangers faced by aid workers on the ground.

He noted that several humanitarian workers have lost their lives and that offices were directly targeted, including a tank shelling incident on March 24.

Krähenbühl stressed the urgent need for intensified international efforts to protect civilians and humanitarian personnel. “People in Gaza have completely lost hope in life,” he said, adding: “We hear civilians say they would rather die with their families because they see no future.”

He warned that the current situation should alarm the world and could signal the possibility of a broader conflict.
