Jerusalem governorate condemns Knesset members' storming of Aqsa Mosque

The Jerusalem Governorate on Monday condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by several members of the 'Israeli' Knesset and a group of rabbis, calling it a dangerous provocation against Muslims and a blatant violation of international law and UN resolutions concerning Jerusalem and its Islamic holy sites.

In an urgent statement, the Governorate warned against repeated Israeli Occupation attempts to impose temporal and spatial division at Aqsa Mosque, saying such actions directly target the sanctity of the mosque and escalate tensions in the occupied city.

The statement also denounced the restrictions and closures imposed by Israeli Occupation Forces around Al-Aqsa Mosque, which aim to empty the compound of worshippers to facilitate settler incursions. The Governorate stressed that these measures reflect a systematic policy to alter the historic and legal status quo at the holy site.

The Governorate called on the international community and human rights organizations to act swiftly and pressure Israeli Occupation to stop these violations, which undermine regional stability and infringe on Muslims’ right to freely practice their religion at the third holiest site in Islam.
