Trump set for first physical of second term years after avoiding health details
US President Donald Trump is undergoing his annual physical exam this Friday, marking the first official health update since he survived an assassination attempt in July 2024.
In a post on his social media platform, Trump, 78, wrote, “I have never felt better, but nevertheless, these things must be done!” The remark is in line with Trump’s usual optimistic tone, even as he continues to withhold comprehensive information about his medical condition.
Despite his frequent attacks on former President Joe Biden’s physical and mental fitness, Trump has consistently avoided offering the same level of medical transparency traditionally expected from US presidents. His health reports have often been limited in scope, providing broad statements but few specifics.
This latest examination is taking place at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and could be the first formal update on his health since the July incident in Butler, Pennsylvania, when Trump was shot during a rally. At the time, instead of releasing medical records, Rep. Ronny Jackson of Texas—Trump’s former White House physician and loyal political ally—issued a brief memo noting a gunshot wound to Trump’s right ear.
Jackson, who once famously claimed Trump could live to 200 if he improved his diet, has continued to publicly vouch for the former president’s health without offering full documentation.
