Two planes clip wings at Reagan International Airport
The Federal Aviation Administration said Thursday that the wingtip of an American Airlines plane hit another American Airlines plane on a taxiway at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C.
No injuries were reported, and both planes returned to their gates. The crash caused no disturbance in flight activity at the airport.
Several US Congressmen were on board.
Republic New York Representative Nick LaLota said that his plane was stationary on the runaway when the other plane clipped the wing.
"Thankfully everyone is ok!" he added.
"We got bumped on our right wing -- it was a loud sound," LaLota told ABC News.
Democrat representative Josh Gottheimer and Republican Grace Meng were also on the flight.
American Airlines said "the damage was limited to a winglet on each aircraft" and the planes "have been taken out of service to be inspected."
"Safety is our top priority, and we apologize to our customers for their experience," the airline added.
