Mohamed Salah signs new two-year Liverpool deal
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has committed his future to the club by signing a fresh two-year contract.
The Egyptian forward, whose previous deal was set to expire this summer, had sparked uncertainty about his future with remarks made during the season and mounting reports of interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia. But now, the 32-year-old is set to remain at Anfield and continue adding to his already impressive record of 243 goals and 109 assists in 394 appearances.
“Of course I'm very excited – we have a great team now,” Salah said following the announcement. “Before we also had a great team. But I signed because I think we have a chance to win other trophies and enjoy my football."
“I have played eight years here, hopefully it's going to be 10. I'm enjoying my life here, enjoying my football. I have had the best years of my career here."
Salah has been in phenomenal form this season, netting 32 goals across all competitions, with 27 of those coming in the Premier League. His contributions have been central to Liverpool’s title pursuit, with the Reds currently holding an 11-point lead over second-place Arsenal with just seven games remaining.
Since arriving from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has become one of the most decorated players in Liverpool's history, helping the team to lift the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
His renewal marks a key move for Liverpool, who are also negotiating contract extensions with two other crucial figures: Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk. While Van Dijk recently confirmed positive progress in discussions, Alexander-Arnold has been heavily rumored to be on Real Madrid’s radar.
Salah’s previous contract reportedly made him the highest-paid player in the club’s history at over USD 457,934 per week. Sources suggest the terms of the new agreement have not required a pay cut.
