Hashemite Charity Organization reaches 1.5 million people in Gaza
Jordan continues to bolster its efforts to support the people of Gaza, responding to the catastrophic humanitarian conditions resulting from ongoing aggression in the region.
Under royal directives, the Kingdom is making every effort to provide aid, despite significant challenges due to the closure of borders and the suspension of Jordanian land aid convoys for over a month.
The Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) implemented alternative solutions to ensure the continuation of humanitarian interventions in partnership with local organizations within Gaza. These efforts are aimed at ensuring that affected families are not abandoned during this critical time.
Recognizing the dire situation faced by civilians in Gaza, the Jordanian government is actively working to open borders and facilitate the delivery of aid through diplomatic channels and engagement with relevant international bodies. The Kingdom acknowledges the urgent need for food, medicine, and basic necessities among the people of Gaza.
In an effort to provide timely assistance during significant occasions, the JHCO executed several humanitarian initiatives during Eid Al-Fitr. These initiatives targeted affected families in Gaza and included the distribution of Eid clothing for children, holiday sweets, cash gifts for kids, and Zakat Al-Fitr for over 4,300 needy families. The organization collaborated with local groups to alleviate burdens and bring joy to the faces of children and families during this festive occasion.
Dr. Hussein Al-Shebli, Secretary-General of the JHCO, stated, "Despite the significant challenges and the halt of convoys, our commitment to our people in Gaza will not stop, as we have been able to reach more than 1,566,144 beneficiaries within the sector." He emphasized the organization's dedication to delivering aid, following the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II, and reaffirmed Jordan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people.
During the closure of borders, the organization prepared and distributed more than 220,000 food meals and provided clean water and holiday supplies to many families in need.
