An "Israeli" airstrike on Sunday targeted a tent designated for journalists near Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, killing journalist Helmi al-Faqawi and young man Youssef Al-Khazindar. The strike also left several journalists wounded.

The injured include Ahmad Mansour, Hassan Eslaih, Ahmad Al-Agha, Mohammad Fayek, Abdallah Al-Attar, Ihab Al-Bardini and Mahmoud Awad — all working in the media field.

The attack is part of a broader escalation by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), whose ongoing military campaign in the Gaza Strip continues to result in rising civilian casualties, including members of the press and humanitarian workers, all of which constitute as a war crime.

Targeting media personnel has drawn sharp criticism from rights groups, who have repeatedly warned that journalists are increasingly being caught in the crossfire — or directly targeted — in violation of international law.
