Val Kilmer, film star who played Batman, dies at 65
Val Kilmer, the versatile actor known for iconic roles like Batman and Jim Morrison, passed away on Tuesday in Los Angeles at the age of 65.
His daughter, Mercedes Kilmer, confirmed that the cause of death was pneumonia, following his recovery from throat cancer, which he had been diagnosed with in 2014.
Kilmer's career spanned over three decades, with standout performances in films such as The Doors (1991), where he portrayed the legendary rock singer, and Batman Forever (1995), where he took on the title role of Gotham's dark hero. His career was marked by a mix of leading man roles and memorable supporting parts in films like Top Gun (1986), Tombstone (1993), and Heat (1995).
Known for his charismatic yet unpredictable on-screen presence, Kilmer's off-screen eccentricities made him a subject of both admiration and controversy. His marriage to actress Joanne Whalley ended in divorce, and he is survived by their children, Mercedes and Jack.
