Hamas: Ben Gvir’s call for war indicates betrayal of "Israeli" captives
Hamas commented on the statements made by far-right "Israeli" minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, in which he said that Prime Minister of the "Israeli" government Benjamin Netanyahu adopted his request to return to war.
Hamas stated that this "confirms that this extremist government is the one that overturned the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and evaded its commitments for internal political reasons, and it bears full responsibility for the consequences of this regression."
The movement added in a statement that "these consecutive statements clearly refute the baseless American accusations directed at the movement, which attempt to hold it responsible for obstructing the signed agreement."
It further stated that the war being waged this time at the request of "the extremist Ben-Gvir means that the occupation government has abandoned its captives and is no longer concerned with their safe return to their families."
Hamas called on mediators to hold Netanyahu's "bloodthirsty" government responsible for the collapse of the ceasefire agreement and to pressure it to stop the aggression and return to the negotiation process, according to the statement.
