Iran's foreign ministry on Sunday condemned deadly US strikes against Yemen's Tehran-backed Houthis, saying they violated international law.

Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei "strongly condemned the brutal air strikes by the US" in a statement, denouncing them a "gross violation of the principles of the UN Charter".

US President Donald Trump warned Iran to stop backing the Houthis, in statements made yesterday after announcing what seems to be the start of an extensive air campaign against the Yemeni group.

In response, the head of Iran's Revolutionary Guards on Sunday threatened "decisive" responses to any attacks.

"Iran will not wage war, but if anyone threatens, it will give appropriate, decisive and conclusive responses," Hossein Salami said in a televised speech.
